Subject: The Benefits of Focused Guided Imagery
Focus Guided Imagery works by planting suggestions into your subconscious mind and allowing your subconscious to take over your physical reality when needed.  Let me give you an example that you can relate to in your daily life.  Undoubtedly, there has been a time when you were driving your car, maybe home from work or school, when your mind began to wander.  Perhaps you were thinking about an unpleasant encounter with a coworker or teacher and began rehashing the conversation in your mind.  Before you realized it, you were home safely in your driveway.  You thought to yourself, “I don’t remember exiting the freeway.  I don’t even remember turning onto my street.  All I know is that I looked up and I was in my driveway.”  Sound familiar?

So, what happens in these situations?  Because you have made that drive in your car every day for years, you have literally perfected the trip in your mind.  You might have even declared, “I could drive to work in my sleep.”  Essentially, you did.  Your subconscious mind recorded those hundreds or thousands of trips— every turn, traffic light, stop sign and landmark—such that it could literally perform the task of driving home for you if you need it to.  As you allowed your conscious mind to wander and recreate that encounter from earlier in the day, your subconscious mind in effect said, “Go ahead and think about that for a while.  I’ll get us home.”  When you allowed your conscious mind to stop thinking about your conversation and return to focusing on the drive home, the drive was already over.

Focus Guided Imagery works on this same principle.  Kirk Kirkpatrick uses techniques learned through his years as a certified hypnotherapist, to guide a client to a mental state where all outside distractions are blocked.   The person’s intense focus is solely on the suggestions Kirk is planting in their subconscious mind.  The catch is, the client must allow it.  While Kirk is a Master of Hypnotherapy, even he cannot force anyone into this state.  They must allow it to happen.  Science has proven that the mind cannot decipher if we are merely thinking something or if it is happening in physical reality.  Either way, the mind’s reaction to the inputs is the same.  Therefore, when Kirk repeats his suggestions during a Focused Guided Imagery session, the clients are planting those seeds in their subconscious mind, ready to be called up at a moment’s notice.  Then, at any point in life, when a situation arises when the knowledge gained during a Focused Guided Imagery session is needed, the subconscious mind will spring forward with the knowledge and put it into action in physical reality, if the person will allow it.  Remember our example with the car.  Only when the driver allowed his mind to wander did the subconscious take over.  When he “snapped out of it” and returned his thoughts to the present, the conscious mind took over driving again.  The power truly is yours!

The subconscious mind is an awesome tool that can greatly benefit us in our daily lives.  Through Focused Guided Imagery, Kirk Kirkpatrick helps clients become aware of that power and harness it to improve many aspects of their lives.
